A Cozy Valentine's Day at Home & A Night Out in Fells Point
Valentine's Day this year was a perfect mix of homey comfort and city exploration. I started the evening by making dinner with Louis at my apartment. We had Chuck Eye steak with garlic mashed potatoes. Cooking is something I have been getting into more. It's not just because of the food itself but because it feels like an activity. There's something about the process that makes a space feel more like home. Even though I'm not a big steak person, I’ve been trying different cuts to see what I like. Chuck's eye turned out to be a solid choice, tender and flavorful, especially paired with the creamy mashed potatoes.

Later in the night, my friends and I headed to Fells Point to try a new spot called Rye of Baltimore. My friends and I have been making an effort to explore new places and bars. I appreciate a relaxed atmosphere where I can sit down and catch up with friends. While I love good music and dancing, sometimes I just enjoy sitting back, sipping a drink, and having a great conversation! The ambiance of Rye was effortlessly cool: dim red lighting and an intimate vibe that instantly reminded me of the bars we visited abroad. The drinks were well-crafted, with thoughtful flavors and a smooth finish. I even requested a Hugo Spritz, which wasn’t on the menu, and they made it perfectly. This is my favorite drink, which I first discovered while studying abroad in Rome. A Hugo Spritz is a refreshing Italian cocktail made with Prosecco, elderflower liqueur, soda water, fresh mint, and lime. There’s nothing I miss more than Europe, so anytime I find a place that brings back those memories, I love soaking it in and reminiscing about my time there.
